So lots of you will be having your proms soon, here are my top products that you will need for your prom. Here is the makeup that I did for a photoshoot. This lovely brown smokey eye and glossy lip is perfect for looking fun but sophisticated at your prom!
Use a primer before you put on your foundation. This will help your makeup to last all through the night no matter how crazy you are dancing! I love ‘That Gal’ primer by Benefit for younger skin. Its keeps your face looking glowing and fresh.
Use a nice light foundation- young skin does not need to be caked in a heavy foundation. Bourjois do a lovely foundation that gives coverage but keeps skin looking young and fresh- Bourjois ’10hour sleep effect foundation’!
For covering up any blemishes use ‘Erase Paste’ by Benefit. This concealer covers but also acts as a brightner. 2 in 1! Its small enough that you can take this in your handbag/purse for touch-ups throughout the night
To make sure that your makeup stays put all night and to cover any shine/oil invest in a powder. Collection 2000 do a really cheap powder that will be perfect for this. If you have a bigger budget the ‘Flawless’ powder by Benefit is fabulous, this is what I use!
Alternativly Benefit do a ‘Confessions of a Concealaholic’ kit where you get ‘That Gal’ primer, ‘Erase paste’ , ‘Bo-ing’ concealer, ‘LemonAid’ (a correcter for eyelids) and ‘Eye-bright’. This kit costs £28.50 but does have everything you could possibly need to conceal and brighten your face ready for prom night.
Blotting paper!!! If you struggle with oily skin these are a must have handbag item…….smaller than powder and soaks up shine. Boots do shine blotting papers for £3.56
Cheek Tints are fab for fresh prom makeup! If you buy glamour magazine just now you can pick up a free sample for Benefit ‘Benetint’ or ‘Posietint’. Both of these tints in full size are quite pricey but I have used a pink cheek tint by 2True before and its a really good cheap alternative. These are also handbag sized for re-applying during the night.
This 2true cheek tint only costs £1.99 and you can find it in Superdrug.
If you are planning on wearing eyeshadow make sure that it matches your dress colour. If you have a black, turquoise or silver prom dress then a nice grey smokey eye is the way forward. However, if you have a pretty red, green or gold dress then a brown/bronze/gold eyeshadow is a must have! If you are looking for a palette that have every brown and gold eyeshadow imaginable then the ‘Naked’ palette by Urban Decay is my favourite. I am actually in LOVE with this palette! Its quite expensive though……
So instead of this No. 17 are cheap and come in great colours, Bourjois have ‘Trio’ eyeshadows specifically made for creating that perfect smokey eye. Or my favourite cheap eyeshadow palettes are by ‘Sleek’, they have a gorgeous god/bronze eyeshadow in their ‘Divine’ palette.
For keeping your prom makeup looking fun use a lipgloss instead of a lipstick. Bourjois have a beautiful range of lipglosses that have a gorgous shine and sparkle to them!! I would recommend a pretty pink/gold gloss for your prom makeup. Lipgloss is always a handy handbag must have, I am never without mine!! If you have a favourite lipstick that you are going to wear on on your prom night, add a layer of clear lipgloss on top for that added shine.
